Today Polaris announced its decision to separate its motorcycle brand, Indian Motorcycle, from the business and sell a majority stake to Carolwood LP, a private equity firm based in Los Angeles, California.

“Polaris and Indian Motorcycle both stand to benefit from this deal, which will enable each business to move faster, deliver industry-leading innovation, and lean further into our respective market strengths,” Polaris Chief Executive Officer Mike Speetzen said. “For Polaris, the sale will further strengthen our focus on the areas of our portfolio that offer the strongest growth potential and allow us to accelerate investments in key initiatives and create wins with customers and dealers. It also will unlock greater long-term value for Polaris and our shareholders, with immediate value creation that we expect will become increasingly meaningful over time.”

According to the press release, Indian Motorcycle has contributed approximately $478 million to Polaris’ revue over a twelve-month period that ended June 30, 2025. That’s 7 percent of Polaris’ overall revenue in that time frame. This transaction with Carlowwood is expected to increase Polaris’ EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) by approximately $50 million and to raise earnings per share by approximately $1.
