I get tired of being told what to buy, and not how to make it.


I start with door seal foam. I cut the adhesive backing off over where the mic hole is. Then stick it on over the mic.

That worked okay but not great.

I wanted a solid barrier to stop the wind but I needed holes for sound to pass through. So the tape is the barrier. I left holes and repeated the first step on them.

Why not use the in camera wind proofing feature?

Well that is a noise reduction, so when I am talking.... That is cut out too. A real wind proofing solution means you record without any software wind noise reduction and if I am talking you hear that too.
