A customer brought us this 2003 Honda CRF150 with a common but frustrating problem—it would only start and run with the choke fully engaged. As soon as the choke was turned off, the bike would stumble, run poorly, or die completely.

In this video, we walk through our complete diagnostic process to find the root cause of the problem. We initially suspected a clogged pilot circuit in the carburetor, and after tearing into the carb and inspecting everything carefully, we discovered the pilot jet was completely plugged.

After replacing the blocked pilot jet and cleaning everything thoroughly, this CRF150 fired right up and ran better than it had in years!

If your dirt bike only runs with the choke on, struggles to idle, hesitates off idle, or is difficult to start, this video may save you hours of frustration and help point you in the right direction.

In This Video:

✅ Diagnosing a CRF150 that only runs on choke
✅ Common symptoms of a plugged pilot jet
✅ Carburetor inspection and troubleshooting
✅ Pilot jet replacement

Whether you ride a Honda CRF150, CRF230, XR series, or any carbureted dirt bike, the troubleshooting methods shown in this video can help you track down similar issues on your own machine.
