Orient Express Racing Pro Street

Winner - Jason Dunigan
Runner-up - Mike Sweeney

The Orient Express Racing Pro Street class delivered exactly what fans have come to expect at the XDA MTC Engineering Summer Nationals: six-second passes, speeds exceeding 240 mph, and some of the quickest motorcycle drag racing in the world. With a talented 18-bike field assembled at Virginia Motorsports Park, every round featured championship-caliber matchups and razor-thin margins.

Leading the field into eliminations was Michigan's Jason Dunigan, who earned the number-one qualifying position with a blistering 6.333-second pass at 235.15 mph. Dunigan's performance during qualifying sent a clear message that he would be the rider to beat on race day.

The top qualifier wasted no time backing up that performance when eliminations began. Dunigan opened competition with a 6.442 at 238.51 mph to defeat Kenny Brewer before facing Rudy Sanzoterra in round two. Once again, Dunigan delivered, posting a 6.319 at 242.15 mph to advance into the semifinals.

Waiting in the next round was one of the toughest opponents in the class, Rodney Williford. The matchup featured the two quickest motorcycles of the weekend and had all the makings of a final-round showdown. Instead, Dunigan delivered one of the most impressive runs of the event, blasting to a 6.306 at 241.41 mph while Williford encountered trouble and slowed to a 7.772-second pass. The victory sent Dunigan to the championship round and cemented his status as the dominant rider of the weekend.

The final round paired Dunigan against Connecticut's Mike Sweeney, who had fought through a difficult ladder of his own by defeating Mark Rendeluk, Andrew Ritchey, and Brad Christian to reach the final. Sweeney entered the matchup with momentum, but Dunigan continued his remarkable consistency. Leaving first with a .045 reaction time, Dunigan powered to a 6.307 at 237.80 mph to defeat Sweeney's 6.465-second effort and secure the Orient Express Racing Pro Street victory.

What made the performance especially impressive was the consistency displayed throughout eliminations. Dunigan posted runs of 6.442, 6.319, 6.306, and 6.307 while exceeding 242 mph. In a class where hundredths of a second often determine the outcome, that level of repeatability is exceptionally difficult to achieve.

By the end of the weekend, Dunigan had not only secured the winner's trophy but also established himself as an early championship favorite. From the number-one qualifying position to a flawless four-round march through eliminations, the Michigan racer put together one of the most dominant performances of the MTC Engineering Summer Nationals and left Virginia Motorsports Park with the Orient Express Racing Pro Street victory firmly in hand.
